Flame wins 100th championship title!

Flame wins 100th tournament - June 28, 2016
The Southern Maine Flame, a leading youth softball organization in Southern Maine today announced it had won its 100th tournament. This milestone was achieved by the 10 and under Team at the Maine State Championships. Kevin Mackell the head coach of the team expressed his excitement about coaching the team with the 100th win. “I was very proud of the girls on our team. Many of them were juggling playing in Little League All Stars as well as the State Championship and still gave it their all. It is an honor to be the team that achieved this milestone”.
Derek Volk, past President and coach that lead teams to many of the 100 tournament victories shared “ I am proud to be part of the Southern Maine Family and want to congratulate Kevin and the U10 team and the 99 champions before them”.
Tom Torre, President of the Flame reflected on this accomplishment, “We are committed to advancing softball in southern Maine and helping young ladies develop both on and off the field. Our success in tournaments is a testament the impact a sustained commitment can have on developing athletes and preparing them for the future. This accomplishment was built on the success and effort of too many people to list across almost 20 years. But we want to thank every one of them for the contributions they have made to our organization. We are proud to be part of softball in southern Maine."
The Flame also announced today that commemorative t-shirts would be made available to current players, coaches and friends of Flame. More information on the t-shirts will be available in the near future.
The Southern Maine Flame was established in 1998 and fields softball teams ages 10 to 23.
